What UK group collection sites cost

Disclosure: The Group Gift Guide is operated by Gift Round Limited, which also operates GiftRound. See our ownership disclosure.

Costs on UK group collection sites fall into four stages: setup, contribution, redemption or withdrawal, and later or optional charges, and each provider structures these differently, so the same collection can cost noticeably different amounts depending on the service.

Setup and card costs

Creating a collection is free on GiftRound, Collection Pot, Thankbox and Collctiv. Collection Pot also includes a free group e-card. Thankbox is free to start, but sending its Classic or Premium collaborative card is a separate paid product, and its pricing page may localise currency, so check the live price rather than assuming a fixed sterling figure.

Contribution costs

GiftRound charges no fee to contributors; 100% of what is given goes towards the gift, with contributions from £1 to £250. Collection Pot's official pricing page states a contribution fee of 1.9% plus 20p. That fee is not optional, though a contributor can choose to cover it so the intended gift still reaches the pot in full. Thankbox charges 1.1% plus £0.17 on GBP contributions, added on top, so its own example shows a £10 contribution costing £10.28; that processing fee is not optional either. Collctiv has no fixed contribution fee, and the Support Collctiv tip a contributor may be invited to leave can be declined.

Redemption and withdrawal costs

GiftRound's only current redemption route is a FlexCard e-gift card; there is no cash withdrawal. Collection Pot's standard cash-out is free, though an optional tip towards transfer costs is invited and can be declined, while converting a Gift Card Only Pot to cash costs 5%; gift cards, products or an e-gift are alternatives. Thankbox lists recipient gift-card and virtual prepaid-card redemption as fee-free, while a recipient PayPal or bank-transfer withdrawal costs 4%, as does a creator withdrawing to buy the gift. Collctiv's standard bank withdrawal is free and normally takes 2 to 3 working days; an optional support contribution described as 2% may be offered at withdrawal and can be declined, and the fixed faster-withdrawal charges of £2.50 next day or £3 priority apply only if that route is chosen and approved.

Later or optional costs

Collection Pot charges £1.49 a month for storage once a pot has been closed for six months and remains unspent, so timing redemption matters if a group wants to avoid this. Thankbox's card is paid for when it is sent, separately from the contribution fee and any withdrawal fee, so the total cost depends on whether a card is sent as well as money collected. Collctiv applies an inactivity fee while funds remain in a pot, of £5 a month after 12 months and £10 a month after 24 months, and its tips are optional and can be declined rather than imposed automatically.

How we compared the options

We took each figure directly from the relevant provider's own pricing or terms pages rather than testing the services ourselves, and we have kept setup, contribution, redemption and later charges separate because a single headline fee rarely captures the full picture.

Fees by provider

The table below sets out setup, contribution and redemption costs side by side. Figures were checked on 18 September 2026; always confirm current terms on the provider's own pricing page before opening a collection.

Provider fee facts checked 18 September 2026 against official pricing, terms and help pages. Mandatory fees, optional tips and faster-service charges are listed separately.

What to choose next

The right service depends less on the headline fee and more on how the recipient will use the money. Start with the question below that best matches your group.

A gift card or e-gift suits the recipient
A fee-free gift-card collection means every pound contributed goes towards the gift, but the recipient spends it as a card rather than receiving cash. Check where the card can be used and when it expires. Read gift cards versus cash in a group collection
You mainly want a group card with messages
A card-first service can suit a leaving or birthday card where money is secondary. Check the card price and any fees on contributions and withdrawal. See the best online group collection sites in the UK
You are handling other people's money for the first time

Owned service: The Group Gift Guide is operated by Gift Round Limited, which also operates GiftRound. GiftRound fits only the gift-card route: it charges no fees, sends 100% of contributions to the gift and is redeemed as a FlexCard e-gift card. It does not offer a cash payout. Visit GiftRound

Frequently asked questions

Which UK group collection service is cheapest?

It depends on how the group wants to redeem the funds. GiftRound has no organiser or contributor fee but redeems only as a gift card. If a group specifically needs cash, comparing Collection Pot, Thankbox and Collctiv's withdrawal fees against the amount being moved is the more useful comparison.

Can a contributor avoid the contribution fee themselves?

On GiftRound there is no contribution fee to avoid. On services that do charge one, such as Collection Pot, a contributor may be able to choose to cover the fee themselves so the organiser's target amount still arrives in full; check the specific service's checkout options.

Do fees change over time?

Yes. Providers can and do change pricing, so the figures above, checked 18 September 2026, should be confirmed on the provider's current pricing page before opening or closing a collection.

Sources and methodology

Figures were taken from each provider's own pricing, terms and support pages on 18 September 2026. We did not test the services ourselves. Fees can change, so confirm current terms before relying on any figure here.
